The Colonial to Corporates interactive exhibition brought to light the enduring struggle of tea plantation workers. These laborers were forcibly brought by the British to work in Assam’s tea fields from the tribal tracts. Tea labourers, then and now, contend with low wages and high maternal mortality. Adivasi women have been at the core of this inter-generational system of labour that extracts profits on the backs of workers.

Through the use of photography, video, and interactive technology, including 360 virtual tours, the Colonial to Corporates installation provides both historic and contemporary images of tea laborers. First installed in Delhi and then captured in this digital installation, the exhibition seeks to foster understanding, reflection, and action to address workers’ rights for tea garden workers in Assam as well as human rights more generally.
